Sep 19 (Thu) - Update

To the lake!

24-09-19-lake-george-01.jpgThis past weekend Kyle said he wanted to go kayaking. Rather than the usual trip to Lost Grove Lake, I proposed Lake George in the Loud Thunder Preserve. The map shows where both lakes are located relative to my digs.
.
Lost Grove Lake and Lake George are both man-made. The big difference between the two is what surrounds the lake. Lost Grove is surrounded by prairie grasses on low rolling hills, Lake George is timber right up to the lake’s edge. See for yourself:

.
Lake George has kayaks, canoes, johnboats, and party boats for rent. You bring the electric trolling motor for boats that need it. A few johnboats have oarlocks if that’s your thing.

.
10-10 we’ll be going back.

24-09-19-muscatine-01.jpgAfter I got back to the ranch I got to thinkin’. I just might one day try to paddle from the Main Street Landing in downtown Davenport to the main streeet landing in Muscatime. The map on the left shows what that looks like. 28 miles or so. One shot. In one day. To put that in perspective; Floatzilla is 11 miles.
.
We’ll see. Cheers.
