May 20 (Mon) – Update

Another eye-watering update from the Midwest.

update-stamp.png* checks notes* On Saturday I did trike to coffee, getting an early start. A beautiful day. I crossed the river on the interstate bridge - that added an extra mile to the trip but why not. Just two of us at coffee. On Tuesday the book editor shared with us that in his early years he was in a band that opened for Head East and REO Sppedwagon. Well, the band members agreed to meet in Champaign, Illinois, their old stomping grounds (REO is from there). So he was out of town this weekend. I took the interstate bridge back home.

.

Once home I turned right around and took the herd to Vander Veer. It was just before lunch when we left. Now I ask you (not really asking anyone - not even my cardiologist because she doesn’t have an answer either) why was I on the edge of passing out once we started walking through the park? You know, the weird, slightly sparkly vision… the woozy feeling… and don’t get me started on squatting down to adjust a dog leash or a harness then standing back up again. At any rate, we got through it.

.

Except for Mavis. We were almost done with the walk, over by the lagoon, the van in sight, about 200 feet to dg when Mavis suddenly lied down. Not to roll around (which she does a lot of), just stopped. I eventually got the hint, leaning over to pick her up. I carried her the rest of the way while Lyds and Willow got their leads slightly tangled around me. I’m sure we looked like an interesting bunch during the last part of that walk. The doggos are getting old, going on almost eight yesrs old I think. I don’t want to think about it.

.

I got home, ate lunch, snoozed, and sat at the workstation doing this and that. Kim is still in sewing mode so she was engrossed in that. In a brightly lit room.

.

On Sunday (yesterday) I took it easy. Kyle and Sami dropped off their three little ones in t he afternoon as they were on their way up to Chicago for a few days. They’ll be back here Thursday morning I believe, so this place is and will be bizzy.

.

Today I will spend inside except for a few brief outdoor chores. Storms are on tap for the next few days. That’s all I have for now. Cheers.
