Standard stuff.

As shown in the picture, the yellow sleeve has pulled back from the black molded plastic socket. The new socket (in fluorescent orange) was like, $8. I don’t like the design of that new socket, I give it a month before it misbehaves.

The neighbor has an extension cord in his back yard that has the same problem - insulating sleeve pulled back from the socket. The cord is plugged into an outlet inside the garage then passes through a small hole in the back wall of the garage. It stays outside in the weather, coiled up against the garage. A few years ago I barred all the garage doors and windows on the inside so there’s no easy way to get inside and unplug that cord. No biggie, I’ll just replace the socket while the cord is live. That should be fun.
