Apr 11 (Thu) – Update

Here’s another update.

update-hand-holding-sign.pngI just reviewed my last article so I can pick up where I left off.

.

Early yesterday afternoon I dropped those lawn and leaf bags at composting then slipped home with the windows down. I saddled up the herd and off we went to Vander Veer. It was a perfect day. I took a few pictures of the area in front of the conservatory, I’ll post ‘em soon.

.

I did some on-line shopping for an engine harness for Kyle’s car. A few Hyundai dealers offer the harness for $2,200 to $2,800 so the local dealer’s $3,000 isn’t too far off. Armed with a part number I tried EBay.

.

And there it was. An engine harness guaranteed to fit Kyle’s engine. Salvaged from a working engine. Six month warranty. $280. That’s not a typo. I quickly found a second harness for $260, lesser warranty. I bought neither. That was yesterday around dusk. After what happened today it’s good that I didn’t.

.

I slept poorly last night, possibly caused by stress. Lydia had eaten something that didn’t agree with her and was in and out through the pet door do deal with it. She either ate some greenery that made her feel bad or she ate some greenery because she was feeling bad. I know this because she had decanted said greenery inside and out. She’s okay today.

.

Today started with me checking the forecast. While was tossing and turning last night the weather people were busy cancelling the rain for today. I ate a little something for breakfast then went to coffee followed by a trip to the Moline library to view Stacey’s art. Well worth the effort. I took pictures that I’ll post soon. Back home I mentioned to Kim about the harnesses and maybe we should buy one rather than me (try to) repair the bad one. Kim said, “There’s no need for that. Kyle’s on his way back from the dealer, his car is done!”

.

Long story short - the dealership got the engine in yesterday sometime and had it swapped, tested, and ready to go by mid-morning today while I was at coffee. Kyle was surprised when he got the call to pick it up. It’s parked in front of our place.

.

He’ll leave it here until I repair the harness, driving our van in the meanwhile. We must plug the leaks in his garage. But first I must do taxes which shouldn’t take long. There’s also some yahd work I must stay on top of. Ellen continues to wait on knee repairs, may try cortisole shots first. Rochelle and the punkinator were here overnight, yesterday evening Rochelle offered to mow our front yard (she enjoys doing that and doesn’t get to mow often enough) so that’s done. The neighbor’s yard needs raked to remove branches and sticks and twigs, then mowed. Then our back yard. Cheers.
