Feb 10 (Sat) - Update
I used the van to get to coffee this morning.
So to put some miles on it. Seemed to take forever to warm up. Small crowd at the shop for a Saturday, but there it is.

I left coffee at 10-ish, went straight home, and went straight to the lower level craft room where Kim was creatin’ more hexagons for coasters. I refreshed my memory on where I left off on the exhaust fan project, did some thinking about next steps, then got to work on the next piece of the puzzle.

The next piece of the puzzle is the duct that will pass through the basement window from inside to outside. I cut three of the four sides then tidied up the shop a bit and went upstairs for lunch. I had an Impossible burger, bun, and fixins.

I just paid a medical bill, such stuff is gonna be interesting between now and three years from now when medicare starts. I tried to pay the bill on-line using Pale Moon but their server wasn’t having it, throwing a 403 Forbidden. I could have fiddled with the user agent to try to get past that I used a different browser instead. It doesn’t need to be this way but ginormous corporations make it so. Bastids.

I’ve had it up to here with news for the time being. I canceled the local newspaper and am steering clear of what very little social media I ingest. There’s a few sub-reddits that I find useful. Vintage advertisements, beauty shots of military aircraft, and national defense.

A week ago I began weaning myself off of YouTube. It was my go-to for coding tutorials and music. But Google got greedier and had to enshittify it so I quit cold turkey.

Back some time ago I mentioned a thing named Radio Garden, a free on-line resource that started out as a research project but grew into something practical. There’s thousands of radio stations that ‘broadcast’ over the internet, Radio Garden makes it oh-so-easy to tune in. I found five stations that play cuts from movie sound tracks and nothing more. No adverts, no dee jays, just one piece of movie magic after another.

Two stations are in Romania, the others are in Germany. I turn the volume down real low, just loud enough to hear above the background noise. Sometime I use my noise-canceling headset. Stuff helps me focus when I’m working on the SimDocs database app..
Speaking of which, I had said it was time to fire up the database. I think that was several weeks ago. Turns out that was premature. I’ve been researching apps in general. I discovered the need for sessions so I’m working on that now. The app will set a session cookie then use it to ensure visitors see what they ask for. Interesting stuff if you’re me. Cheers.
